Chetnole is a village strung out along the road. It mainly consists of stone cottages, some new houses, lots of trees and good thick hedges.

The 15th century tower of St Peters Church is the location of some of the most interesting gargoyles of England. The best of the gargoyles depicts a huge demon with human heads where its eyes should be. Another of the gargoyles appears to be straining in a somewhat constipated manner.  The nave and north aisle date from the 13th century and the chancel from about 1860
