The small hamlet of Chilfrome is situated amongst the hedges and trees on the western edge of the water meadows between Maiden Newton and Cattistock. Clustered around a crossroads in the lane which runs through the hamlet are a few cottages, farms and a couple of larger houses. Recently some modern development has intruded on this quiet backwater.

The small church of The Holy Trinity was originally 13th century, but is now mostly mid 19th century. Despite it' small size Chilfrome had its own parson up until the early part of the 20th century when the pastoral duties passed to the incumbent at Cattistock.
