The village of Mudeford has been marred by modern developments, but Mudeford Quay, which protrudes out into Christchurch Harbour, is much visited, offers good views all round. There are usually boats to watch and even salmon netting in season.

Ferries run across the mouth of the harbour, on to Hengistbury Head and up to Christchurch, Wick and Tuckton. Lots of pleasure boats are moored here, and fishing boats work from the Quay, which despite the presence of a large car park still has an 18th century feel.
