There are fourteen Winterborne villages in Dorset on the banks of two rivulets rising in chalk hills, and Anderson and Clenston boast ancient manor houses.

The house at Winterborne Anderson is a stately building, brick-faced with stone, high gables and towering chimneys. Features are stone mullioned windows. There is little else at Anderson and the church topped with two school style bells in an open tower is now a private residence.

On the chalk downs above Winterborne Clenston is Comb's Ditch, an ancient earthwork and relic of the once great line of defense
